Mum releases ‘PSA for men everywhere’ to save their marriage this Christmas

It took Aubree Jones 10 years to wake up from an empty Christmas stocking to realize her husband needed to fill it – and that’s not an understatement.

This prompted the mother-of-six to post a “PSA for men everywhere”, in the hope that other wives/partners and mothers would not receive the same treatment.

“He learned it’s his job”

The movement started two years ago, and Aubree has continued to repost the clip every year since, reminding men to grow up.

In the original clip, the mother notices that her husband of 13 years, Josh, and their six children are all enjoying a happy breakfast, but she gets nothing because Josh has left all the gift arranging to her.

She notes that he has since “learned it’s his job.” But it still bothers Aubree that so many men still don’t accept their responsibility.

“Last year we did a survey and 7 out of 10 women either stuff their stocking or wake up with an empty stocking,” she says this year. “Let’s change that!”

“It should have been his responsibility”

Aubree makes it clear that Josh just “dropped the ball” and the video was a “wake-up call” — so he’s made up for it, ever since.

“I took on this role as an unspoken responsibility because I enjoy it more,” she tells news.com.au.

“But just because you like something doesn’t mean it doesn’t add extra stress to my already busy schedule as a stay-at-home wife and mom.

“In previous years, I had just filled my stocking, but this was the first time I didn’t, and instead left it completely empty.

“When Josh saw the empty sock, he knew it had to be his responsibility and he threw the ball.”

In the clip that goes viral every year, Josh looks at his wife’s empty socks.

“Why is it empty?” he asks.

“Santa didn’t come for me,” Aubree replies.

The clip has resonated endlessly with viewers, who admit to either stuffing their own stockings or simply leaving them empty.

Many said they had never considered it from a marriage perspective, with this person writing, “As a mother and a wife, this actually brought me to tears. This is my reality and it hurts.”

This mom shared that it took her a while to understand the implications, too: “A few years ago I finally stopped filling mine… empty until last year, my sweet little one, colored a picture and put it in my . That’s when everyone else noticed.”

But for some, the issue had been talked about for years.

“It’s not about the gifts,” one viewer pointedly said. “It’s that he didn’t even think I was important enough to bother with.”

Speaking to news.com.au, Aubree explains that this is why she reposts her clip every year.

“I really want to draw attention to men who may not realize that a little thing like a lollipop, moisturizer and socks in socks can make their woman feel wanted and appreciated.”
